Winter 2012 Class Schedule - Yoga & Pilates
Yoga is a scientific system of physical and mental practices originating in India more than 3,000 years ago. In the style of holistic/therapeutic flow practiced here we begin with a time of rest to check in with the mody/mind and ease into movement from a structural point of view - freeing joints, total body strengthening, flexbility & relaxation.Yoga is aprocess of healing and understanding that begins anew with each breath.

Lise has a diverse background in health and fitness that spans over 25 years. She holds numerous certifications including: Stott Pilates, Thai Yoga Therapy (Saul David Raye, Kam Thye Chow, and Pierce Salguero), Structural Yoga Therapy (Mukunda Stiles),Yoga (Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin, Holistic, Restorative, and Iyengar influenced), Group Exercise (AFAA) and Certified Personal Trainer (NASM, AFAA). She holds a BA from Stephens College in Columbia, MO and has completed graduate studies in Kinesiology from Cal State Fullerton. Lise is a prior trainer of trainers for the Arthritis Foundation and created a Senior Fit Instructor Training program at CSUF. While living in California for 20 years, she had the opportunity to work with MLB athletes and high school football, soccer, and volleyball teams.Lise has an eclectic style of teaching that evolves with the groupat hand. She believes each student and each moment is different, and therein the practice will vary from day to day. No two classes are exactly alike. Sheencourages her students to breathe(!), to explore personal limits with respect and joy (lila), and to greet their practice with acceptance and gratitude. Student leave class feeling better than when they came; they learn to be kind to themselves (their bodies) and to not take it too seriously! Its only Yoga or Pilates! Have a little fun! Pilates is a method of exercise incorporating the mind and the body together to dynamically strengthen and stretch muscles to better support our activities of daily living. Special focus is on "core" structures; pelvic floor, abdominal muscles, supportive breathing techniques as well as spinal flexibility.

Lynda Schlomer comes to us with a background in Kinesiology, pilates, fitness instruction and dance. With her love for people and movement, she majored in Kinesiology at Trinity Western University in 2003, graduating with a Bachelor of Human Kinetics in Kinesiology in 2007. Prior to graduating, she became certified as an aerobics instructor with the rigorous BCRPA certification from British Columbia. She then moved on to Balanced Body University's Pilates Training program where she completed modules in Mat, Reformer, Trapeze Taple, and Chair Pilates. Lynda now teaches aerobics at Homestead, dance at A Gift of Dance, and pilates at Core Kinetics. She is passionate about giving quality movement instruction to each individual that she teaches, based on their specific skills and needs.
Lynda is a master at working each individual at thier level and potential in a group/class setting. If Pilates is something you've always wanted to check out but are just not too sure about it - no worries - just come and observe.This will give you a chance to understand how pilates works and what it can do for you.
Open Monday through Friday, 10 am to 4 pm, after hours appointments may be available.
