Body in Balance ~ Massage Therapy & Hydrotherapy
Plantar fasciitis or pain on the bottom of the foot. What causes it? The bottom of the foot contains a very tough thin sheath of connective tissue called the planter fascia. Damage to the plantar fascia, often from from injury or overuse, can cause a shortening or shrinkage in the available range of movement in this fascia or connective tissues resulting in pain and often dysfunction in the gait (how you walk). Massage therapy works to elongate and disassociate (unstick) the plantar fascia with ohter strucutres in the foot allowing for a return to normal movement and function.
